We landed in Portugal on a perfect Summers morning and made our way by taxi to the city centre of Faro, jumped onto a train and headed straight to Lagos where we picked up another taxi to take us to Praia Ana where we were going to stay for the next 3 nights. We quickly put on Summer gear and headed out for a walk along the cliffs. Everything was perfectly calm and serene around us. The sun was shining, the waves were gently lapping on the shore, seagulls flew above us, the smell of salt and seafood filled our noses and yachts casually sailed by. We couldnt have asked for a more perfect welcome to Portugal. We stayed in Praia D.Ana and our hotel a 5minute walk from the beach and a short walk to Lagos along the cliff tops and picturesque sandy cove beaches.

Jagged rocks were scattered along the shoreline as we took our first walk down onto the unique covey beaches walking through the holes in the cliff walls that lead from one beach to another.

We then went back to the hotel to relax for the rest of the afternoon at the pool, which was perfectly situated on the 5th floor of the hotel overlooking the sea.

Our first night we had dinner on the beachfront. Andy had swordfish and I had the famous grilled sardines. I never knew sardines tasted so good. The sun was starting to set on the beach and the views were out of this world. I felt so incredibly emotional and had tears in my eyes saying that even if we only had this one night in Portugal, it would have been worth everything. As the skyline turned pink and the city lights started twinkling in the background we started to drink port and just revelled in the beauty and peaceful feelings that surrounded us.
